## Welcome....

to your new Computer Science Principles course here at Foothill HS. Mr. McLean is still your teacher, but he is now living in a virtual world. So are you actually, but more on that later.

### Week of May 18 to May 24

We are going to continue with the Python Turtle this week. Basically, the Turtle is a way to use Python commands to draw on your screen! I will have the second Turtle lessons set up and ready for you by noon on Tuesday.

- Here are the Powerpoint slides for Chapter 2, and this will get you creating with the Python Turtle
- Here are the Powerpoint slides for Chapter 3 Python Turtle - mostly just a read and review
- Here are the Powerpoint slides for Chapter 4 Python Turtle - COOL STUFF HERE - designs and shapes are FUN!
- Here are the Powerpoint slides for Chapter 5 Python Turtle - COOL STUFF HERE - WITH LESS CODE TO DO IT!
- Here is the textbook with just the Chapter 2 Turtle Instructions. The Python Textbook covering Chapter 2 Turtle
- Here is the textbook with just the Chapter 3 Turtle Instructions. The Python Textbook covering Chapter 3 Turtle
- Here is the textbook with just the Chapter 3 Turtle Instructions. The Python Textbook covering Chapter 4 Turtle - WITH GREAT DESIGN IDEAS AT THE END
- Here is the textbook with just the Chapter 3 Turtle Instructions. The Python Textbook covering Chapter 5 Turtle - USING FUNCTIONS FOR LESS CODING!
- >For credit for this weeks classwork, attempt some of the "Turtle" Drawings listed in Chapter 5 of the Powerpoint slides or textbook. See if you can slightly modify the number of lines, or the angles, and come up with something unique and totally cool. Key this in repl.it, but YOU CAN NOW DO IT WITH LESS CODE BECAUSE LOOPS REPEAT THE INSTRUCTIONS! You can "share" your repl.it workspace with MC by clicking the "share" button, and copying the link, and them e-mailing it to MC at lmclean@suhsd.net
- There are many tutorials on the web. I searched on YouTube and entered "python turtle basics with 'for' loops", and they are all over the place. I think you will find the Turtle to be very addicting. I hope so.....remember to get your other classwork done too. Show me what you can do!

NOW FOR THE TEXTBOOK FILES!

This is our last week with the Turtle. Next week we will take a test, and that will finish our year.
